4 Days Golden Triangle Tour from Delhi: Day-by-Day Guide

The Golden Triangle links Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. A 4 days Golden Triangle tour covers all three over three nights, starting and ending in Delhi. Compared with the three-day version, it gives Jaipur a full day of its own and moves the drive back to Delhi to day four. This guide goes through the four days in order.

Day 1: Delhi Sightseeing

Your driver meets you at the airport or hotel in Delhi, and the sightseeing begins. Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India, built in the Mughal era. Humayun's Tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage Site set in symmetrical gardens that influenced the design of the Taj Mahal. Qutub Minar, also UNESCO-listed, is the tallest brick minaret in the world. The Lotus Temple is a modern building shaped like a lotus flower, open to visitors of all faiths.

After Delhi, the route continues by expressway to Agra, where the first night is spent. A Golden Triangle tour package with a private car handles this transfer without extra arrangements.

Day 2: Agra Sightseeing

The day begins around 6:30 AM with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. In December and January, early fog can hide the monument, so the guide may suggest a slightly later entry. Two craft stops follow. A marble inlay workshop shows how semi-precious stones are set into marble, and a Zardozi workshop covers metallic-thread embroidery.

Agra Fort is a red sandstone fortress that served as the centre of Mughal power. Covering the Taj, two workshops, and the fort is the core of a 4 day Golden Triangle itinerary. The route then continues to Jaipur, where the second night is spent.

Day 3: A Full Day in Jaipur

After breakfast, the guide takes you to Amber Fort, a sixteenth-century hilltop fortress with the Sheesh Mahal overlooking Maota Lake. The Panna Meena Kund stepwell is nearby. Four craft experiences follow: gemstone cutting and polishing, rug weaving, block printing, and lac bangle making.

Jal Mahal is viewed from the lakeside, and the City Palace is a royal complex with courtyards and museums. Jantar Mantar is a UNESCO-listed observatory. The day ends with a guided walk through the old-city bazaars. Because there is no long drive afterwards, you can go out for dinner in Jaipur, and the guide gives local recommendations.

Day 4: Drive Back to Delhi

The last day begins with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal in the morning, when the street is quieter. The drive back to Delhi takes about five hours in a private air-conditioned car, which completes the 4 days Golden Triangle tour.

Shopping Notes

For Delhi, the itinerary page suggests skipping Dilli Haat and saving shopping for Agra and Jaipur, where regional crafts are more distinctive. In Jaipur, Ramgarh Mod is listed as the best single stop if time is short, with textiles, printed fabric, and blue pottery together. Johari Bazaar is the oldest jewellery market, and buyers are advised to ask for a certificate with any gemstone. In Agra, Fatehabad Road has marble and handicraft shops.

Guides and Languages

Local guides speak English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, and Russian. The tour is private, so the group is only your own party.

What Is Included

The tour includes a private guide, a private air-conditioned car, hotel or airport pickup and drop-off, and bottled water on board.

What Is Not Included

Meals, hotel bookings, monument entrance fees, and gratuities are not included. Guides arrange entrance tickets in advance, and you pay the exact ticket amount to the guide at each monument.

Drive Times and Timing

Delhi to Agra takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, Agra to Jaipur about 4.5 to 5 hours, and Jaipur to Delhi about 5 hours. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so day two should not fall on a Friday. For more on trip length, see how many days you need for the Golden Triangle.

Who Should Book

This tour suits first-time visitors, couples, and families who want a full Jaipur day. Travelers with less time can compare the 3 days tour, and those who want more stops can compare the 5 days tour.
