2 Days Jodhpur City Tour With Art & Craft: The Group Verdict
Four of us booked the 2 days Jodhpur city tour with art and craft activities. Here's our full day by day rundown of the Blue City experience.
The Group Verdict on the 2 Days Jodhpur City Tour With Art & Craft
Splitting this 2 Days Jodhpur City Tour with Art & Craft Activities between four of us turned into one of the standout legs of our Rajasthan trip. Here's the full rundown of both days through Hii Stories.
Kicking Off With Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada
Right on time, our chauffeur and guide got us moving, with Mehrangarh Fort setting the tone from the very start, its position over Jodhpur making the climb worth every step. Jaswant Thada's white marble cenotaph shifted the mood completely, calm gardens and still reflective pools winning over the group more than we'd expected going in.
A Stop at Umaid Bhawan Palace
Half museum, half royal residence, Umaid Bhawan Palace's Indo-Colonial architecture stood out to everyone in the group. It brought a different texture to the trip compared to anywhere else we'd been in Rajasthan.
Where the Craft Activities Took Over
This part of the day made the tour's name feel earned. Seeing gemstone cutting and polishing close up gave us a new respect for a skill none of us had understood beforehand. Tie and dye came next, with a local artisan breaking down what specific colours and patterns actually represent. Block printing wrapped things up, a quick 15 minute hands on go with carved wooden blocks that somehow became a friendly contest over the neatest print.
Getting Lost in the Blue City
Winding through Jodhpur's blue lanes and Sardar Market gave us some of the strongest photos from the whole trip, our guide steering us toward good angles rather than hurrying us along.
Day 2, Mandore Gardens Through the Clock Tower
The second morning began at Mandore Gardens, once the capital of Marwar before power shifted to Mehrangarh Fort in 1459. Nearby, the Clock Tower by Sardar Market brought 19th century Jodhpur into focus, especially with Mehrangarh Fort looming in the background.
Discovering Toorji ka Jhalra
This step well took everyone by surprise, genuinely intricate work that once functioned as an actual water source for the old city rather than existing purely for photos. Quietly the most underappreciated stop of the whole trip.
One More Pass Through the Blue City
Before heading to the hotel, we circled back through the same streets and market once more, and nobody objected since there was still plenty left to browse.
What This Group Appreciated Most
- Private AC transport meant sticking to our own timeline, no strangers to sync with
- The craft experiences pushed the trip beyond typical sightseeing
- Guides fluent in English kept the history engaging rather than lecture like
What We'd Recommend to Other Groups
- Build in extra time for the markets, block printing and shopping eat up more time than expected
- Meals are on you, factor that into your plans across both days
- Feeling like two days isn't quite enough, the 1 Day Jodhpur City Tour hits the highlights, or go bigger with the Jaisalmer Overnight from Jodhpur or the 8 Days Golden Triangle with Jodhpur & Jaisalmer
Where We Landed as a Group
The 2 Days Jodhpur City Tour with Art & Craft Activities delivered a real combination of heritage and hands on culture that most sightseeing itineraries leave out entirely. Between the four of us, the craft sessions and Toorji ka Jhalra became the parts we kept bringing up long after the trip ended.
If your own group has something similar in mind, tell Hii Stories how many of you are coming and they'll plan the days around it, craft workshops built right in.
