Taj Mahal Trip From Delhi Review: How It Went for Us as a Couple

My partner and I took a Taj Mahal trip from Delhi and split the day into before, during, and after. Here's our honest take on how it went.

How Our Taj Mahal Trip From Delhi Actually Went

Months of talk finally turned into a booked Taj Mahal trip from Delhi for the two of us, and once the dates were locked in, we knew we wanted to hold onto more than just the hour or two spent at the monument. So this is the day in three parts, before, during, and after, told the way it actually happened with Hii Stories.

Before: Getting the Groundwork Right

  • Booking: Everything, dates, pickup, inclusions, was laid out clearly from the start through one of their same day trips, we weren't left guessing at any point
  • Vehicle: A private car was reserved for just the two of us, so no matching our day to a stranger's pace
  • Timing advice: Instead of the standard later pickup, they steered us toward leaving for sunrise, and that recommendation paid off
  • Our take: We underestimated how much this stage would matter, but it ended up shaping everything that came after

During: The Day As We Lived It

  • Departure: Leaving Delhi before 5 am felt brutal at the time, both of us barely awake, but empty roads told us our driver had clearly made this exact drive before with sunrise as the target
  • Arrival at the Taj Mahal: The gates came into view right as the light began to shift, almost no one else around us, and what followed is hard for either of us to describe in words
  • Agra Fort: Rather than an optional add on, this was baked into the plan from the start, and it added a layer of context we hadn't anticipated
  • Local lunch: Our guide steered us clear of the restaurants clustered near the main gate and toward something that actually felt like a local's choice
  • Our take: For a day this packed, surprisingly little of it felt rushed between the two of us

After: Getting Home and What Lingered

  • Return drive: Long, exactly as expected, though the private car meant stopping whenever either of us wanted, with no group timetable dictating otherwise
  • Back in Delhi: We were dropped off on time despite the full day behind us
  • What stayed with us: That first light on the marble, a moment we're still bringing up weeks after the fact
  • Our take: Plenty of trips plan the morning well and forget the way home entirely, ours didn't, though we'd still consider their 2 day version next time for a slower pace

What Actually Made the Day Work

  • The same care went into every stage, not just the hours spent sightseeing
  • A private car the entire way meant we moved together, at our own pace, without any outside schedule pulling at us
  • Agra Fort and the sunrise timing were both part of the plan from day one, neither one was something we had to push for separately

Our Honest Verdict

  • Overall rating: 5 out of 5, a number we both landed on independently
  • Favourite moment: the sunrise arrival, easily, neither of us hesitated on that answer
  • Most overlooked detail in what we researched beforehand: the planning stage itself, it made everything downstream simpler
  • Would we book it again: without a second thought, and we're already looking at their golden triangle tour options for a longer trip next round

If something similar is on your radar with your own partner, pass your dates along to Hii Stories and let them build the day around the two of you, start to finish, the same way ours came together.
